This weeks problem may be cv joint related; nasty clackety noise when pulling away and worse with lock on.
Have been advised not to drive in anywhere so nicked my 159 back from Mrs P.
Alex is kindly having a looky at it Thursday, hopefully nothing too painful.....

Re: CV joint

Hope it's not too costly to fix Davey!

I've had my rear brake pipes burst so I'm busing it at the moment We think they were originals, which isn't bad for a 15 year old car, and Mr SG fitting the callipers a few months back has put strain on them. Having no brakes is slightly disconcerting, to say the least

Re: CV joint

Dodgy brakes is fine SG, just brake earlier!

Turns out its an inner cv, off side so not too bad.
Clutch and brakes fluid black (and full of water) so will gets that changed at the same time.

Re: CV joint

Good fun and games on Saturday but all good to go now.
If you have a 156 driveshaft this it will not fit a Gtv as it's too long.
A 156 outer cv joint also will not fit due to the diameter of the recess on the back of the cup but if you do like lithium grease it is possible to keep the cup and swap the inners of the joint over.

Re: CV joint

Perhaps it is my driving - split off side inner cv boot again but with new car.
Doubtless the joint will be knacked as grease escaped somewhere.
How long do these boots last?

Re: CV joint

If you think about it, chances are they were all fitted at the same time, so they are likely to wear out around the same time.
